LALA CURIO at R.MANDA
An interior showcase of LALA CURIO home decor brand inaugurating in the heart of Shanghai in collaboration with the launch of new cafe R.MANDA, a mixed program of interior showroom, cafe and bar with a retail element. Creating an eye-catching, extraordinary space at the open atrium of architecture landmark Shanghai Centre, providing a welcoming, transformative experience to promote the launch of the new brands.
Interiors to work harmoniously with Shanghai's major landmark architecture by architect John C. Portman Jr. at an open atrium. The site is essentially a glasshouse will full exposure of interior at one of the busiest streets of Shanghai. A mixed program launching a new cafe R.MANDA in collaboration with LALA CURIO home decor brand as an interior showcase with cafe and retail functions.
A magical wonderland - transformed the austere architecture into a glass house of curiosities, a joyous juxtaposition of antique oriental fabrics, imperial craft Cloisonné panels in stonepattern, hand-painted cranes on gold leaf wallpaper, rich foliage walls of silk with dazzling embellishments, pietre dure marble floors, a creation of an unexpected palette whilst respecting its prominent architecture.

LALA CURIO FOR R.MANDA
LALA CURIO celebrates ancient artisanship with contemporary humor. We are a global home decor brand specialising in hand-painted & embroidered wallpaper, tiles made of the imperial craft Cloisonné, bespoke furnishings and unique handmade decorative objects.
Our design concept for R.manda features majestic cranes in their poetic playground - the forest of ferns. Our embellished silk wallpaper brings this playground to life as an urban forest in soft teal and forest green ferns, highlighted with glistening paillette, setting this dreamy palette for R.manda.
The glass house of the café brings together playful cranes that embodies the whimsicality and eccentricity we hope to bring to your experience here. These intricately hand-painted cranes narrate our story on our gold-leaf wallpaper and porcelain teaware, where they are found resting on cotton candy clouds and interacting with the macarons.
Each piece of furniture throughout the café is carefully designed and crafted by LALA CURIO to incorporate unique vintage Japanese Obis and our signature cloisonné tiles
The main feature is the bar cabinet made of the esteemed craft Cloisonné, once reserved for imperial use only. Designed to mimic a pink malachite pattern, each wire is bent into shape to allow vivid gradations of pigments bringing three-dimensionality to the panels. Alongside the glass façade, float our unique cloud chandeliers, assembled with handmade petite porcelain flower petals. The floors of the café are made of a traditional pietre dure technique with our twist in a colorful zigzag form.
Every feature of R.manda showcases the rare crafts of LALA CURIO, reinvented for the fashionable interior. Our mission is to preserve lost crafts of China. By embracing our own rich history in decorative arts shall we foster future generations to blossom our artisanship.
