Inspired by her Penang heritage—recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage architectural site—Alicia Cheung’s collection is a sensorial tribute to memory, flavor, and place. Passion fruit vines weave freely across structured trellises, echoing the unruly beauty of the Malaysian countryside and the vivid, sharp notes of its cuisine.
The trellis geometry forms a tile-like backdrop, referencing the distinctive patterns of indigenous Penang architecture. Hand-painted on marquetry wood veneer wallpaper, the artwork comes alive through the natural grain of the wood, creating depth, warmth, and an organic richness that celebrates both craftsmanship and cultural legacy.
