Tropical Reverie, a hand-painted wallpaper panorama, embodies Peti Lau’s idealized escape. Inspired by the vibrant tropical hues of Birds of Paradise - bursts of orange against bold violet skies - Lau envisioned a visual counterpoint to the natural paradises that have shaped her creative perspective. This urban oasis, set against coastal landscapes of her current base in Los Angeles, becomes a tangible representation of her lived experiences abroad as an expat traveling around Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Mauritius.
Lau’s journey from expat to design career in Koh Samui, Thailand, is reflected in the collection. Together, these memories unfold into an immersive landscape shaped by emotion, movement, and cultural inheritance. Unbound by geography, the composition merges island light and coastal warmth with Lau’s South Asian heritage and diasporic experience.
Tropical Reverie is both contemporary and deeply personal, transforming walls into a visual refuge where culture, imagination, and nature coexist in effortless balance.
